Views of the ‘What Three Words’ challenge, run in the last Guild Newsletter varied from ‘Great idea’ to ‘Are you completely bonkers …….?, and ‘Uh??’…………… but the results are in, and prizes have been awarded.
From the Guild Treasurer – The longest sentence (52 words)
‘Elbowing comedians pump frantically on the rubber bulbs of their motor-horns as they race in their silly flappy shoes towards their cars at the start of the annual ‘Round Sapcote Clown Car Race’, causing a cacophony which pleases small children, terrifies domestic animals, and drowns out the efforts of the local bellringers.
From Amy Cook – Next longest, and containing a neat bit of marketing (48 words)
‘Elbowing comedians pump up their bike tyres and race each other to the next tower, St Andrew’s, in order to grab a rope in the first ring on these bells which have recently been restored and refurbished by our local bell foundry, John Taylor and Company of Loughborough.
From Alison Harvey – Some sound Health and Safety advice! (38 words)
Elbowing comedians pump their arms about, hoping to disguise their mistakes when ringing more complicated methods, however care must be taken when elbowing in the belfry as this is bad practice and could be dangerous to fellow ringers.
From Charlie Worger – The funniest entry which combines minimal effort and minimum output
