Rebecca Odames organised a Listening and Striking Day, held at Knighton on 9th November, with Andrew Young and Chris Rudge leading the theory and practical sessions.
Some comments from people who attended the course:
I am a member of the recently formed Leire band and attended the striking and listening course at Knighton church on 9th November.
I found it really interesting and excellently ran by Andrew Young and Chris Rudge who made you feel relaxed and at ease from the start.
The mix of theory and practical worked very well and the exercise of ringing facing the opposite way really made you have to concentrate on listening! I think our Tower Captain who also attended the course will definitely be taking the new skills we learnt through to our practices.
I’m looking forward to attending similar courses in the future.
The course was really useful and perfectly pitched. The timings were great. I’d like the next course to try listening-only for call changes, which is perhaps the next step? I’d be very interested in future courses- thanks so much to everyone involved.
I found the course informative, especially listening to the difference in bell notes.
We both thought the course was excellent and very beneficial. It really made you think about the listening aspect of bellringing and the challenge of ringing facing the wrong way was a great exercise.
I found the course really useful and quite challenging. I wasn’t sure about the course before the day and was a tad sceptical, but it exceeded all expectations. It is certainly a course I would recommend to students as they progress.
It was an excellent introduction to listening and striking. I felt I learnt a good deal!
