Aylestone
On 8th May at 6.30pm, the bells of St. Andrews, Aylestone, rang out to celebrate Victory in Europe + 80. We rang 45 minutes of general ringing our band was made up of Sam Baker, Jane Boyd, Sue DeHaven, Helen Gamble, John Inkley, Glenn Jones, Bill Steward, Charlie Worger and Liz Wright.
John and Liz had rung at Anstey previously during the day and John was following on with a ring at Countesthorpe. Helen was continuing on to All Saints, Wigston and St Margaret’s. Charlie was ringing at St, Mary Magdalene, Knighton’s quarter peal. A busy day for all, but for a very special occasion.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We Will Remember Them.

Soar Valley and Charnwood
A busy band of ringers stuck to a tight schedule across towers stretching from Birstall in the south up through Wanlip, Walton, Barrow and finally finishing at Oaks in Charnwood in the north, all between 5pm and 9pm. With a service at Barrow setting a very precise time for arrival and departure there, the timekeeping had to be managed like a military operation! A core band of five were joined by friends along the way.

Kirby Muxloe
The regular practice at Kirby Muxloe started early at 6.30 on 8th May as our way of marking VE Day. The ringers were Aoife P Harrison, Martin Green, Gail L Harrison, Mark J Pendery, Simon E Harrison, Rebecca M Banner, Mark P Banner, Harrison C Evans, Nick Evans, Michael Smith, David R Gardner, Brian E Mozley, and ringing included: Stedman Doubles, Rounds & Call Changes, Cambridge Surprise Minor, Spliced Plain Minor (Double Oxford, Double Court & Hereward), Canterbury Surprise Minor, Treble Bob Minor, Plain Bob Doubles and Morpeth Surprise Minor.
Leire
The newly formed Leire band was able to ring for VE Day independently which is a great achievement as we have all been ringing for less than 2 years. We also held a street party for VE Day on the 5th May and we were asked to ring to start if off.
