Ringing Course 2023

The Guild Ringing Course takes place over the 3rd weekend in September and will be based at the Copt Oak Memorial Hall.

It is a brilliant opportunity to get dedicated tutoring and practice for whatever stage of learning you are at, up to surprise minor.

Camping facilities are available at the Hall (facilities limited to toilet blocks, no showers or electric hook-ups!) for those wanting to make it a residential course.

Here’s an overview of the sessions for the course (there may be some minor changes!):

Friday18:30 to 19:15: Meet for course admin and introduction at the Copt Oak Memorial Hall
19:30 to 21:00: First session with your group and tutor at a local tower
Saturday10:00 to 12:00: Second session with your group and tutor
Saturday lunch will be arranged at a pub or cafe close to the towers your group is ringing at (or bring your own pack up).
14:00 to 16:00: Third session with your group and tutor
18:00: Social with a buffet .
SundayMorning: local service ringing
Sunday Lunch – pub(s) to be organised for those wishing to join us for lunch
14:00 to 16:00 Progressing ringers style session at 8 bell towers open to all LDG members and students with enough energy left to ring whatever you would like.

If you would like to apply for a place on the course do it ASAP as there is a strict limit to the number of students we can handle to ensure enough rope time. Download the form here.

We are also looking for helpers who are competent ringers for doubles / minor / surprise minor for each of the sessions (you don’t necessarily have to do all of them, we’d be grateful if you volunteer for one or two!) Please drop an email to Rebecca Odames at Leicester@leicesterdg.org.uk if you would be willing to be a helper with details of your ringing level and what sessions you could do.
