January Newsletter 2023

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the newsletter this issue – its good to see so much going on in the guild. As I’m typing this its coming up to tea time on the 31st December, and I still haven’t put all the articles together into the PDF version of the newsletter yet! I have just received a late submission – that’ll teach me to have a deadline for copy so close to when the newsletter is due to be published!

I am a little later working on it than I hoped as Mark and myself were asked at short notice to go and ring in a quarter peal – Eliza’s first of surprise major, ringing inside to Yorkshire at Thurnby. It is worth a mention as she started the year having not rung any quarters at all, her first being Stedman and Grandsire Doubles in February, she has finished the year having rung 30!

It is good to see elsewhere in this issue the progress being made by the young ringers at Thurcaston, and Jonathan Dickinson’s hard work in starting up at band at Harby. Add to this the oversubscribed ART courses to teach the teachers, and it looks like the Guild is heading in the right direction with the recruitment and teaching of new ringers.

Here’s to a busy and propserous 2023!
