Call Change Simulator

A new website which may be of interest for anyone learning call changes can be found at https://callchangesim.co.uk/. This is useful whether you are learning to ring them, or if you would like to develop your calling.

The numbers in oval represent the bells, and the order of these numbers changes as you call the changes. Simply click on two numbers in the ‘select bells to swap’ field to make those bells swap. Be careful though! You need to select two bells that are adjacent to one another, and select them in the correct order. The settings allows you to chose whether you are using the calling up method, or the calling down method.

As you call more changes, the history of what you have called shows up in the previous changes section. The bells you have most recent swapped also show with a red outline. If you have chosen a desired pattern in the drop down box, the bells will also show green when you have moved them to their correct end point.

If you want some help knowing which bells to swap, use the magnifying glass symbol to get instructions on how to move from one named change to another that you choose. You can bring this up whenever you need it to refer back to it, and it keeps track of which changes you have called. It even works while you are ‘ringing’ the bells. You may have noticed the Go button – pressing this plays bell sounds (or tones, if you choose this in the settings), allowing you to hear the changes you are ringing.

Overall this is an excellent resource for gaining a better understanding of what is happening during call changes.
