After starting a band from scratch back in August 2021 & seeing many learners & ringers come & go, we currently have a band of 20+ children & adults, which includes a mix of Packington residents as well as other Leicestershire & Derbyshire ringers.

Packington has seen many firsts this year quarter peal wise for our newer band members, as well as some targeted achievements for the band & tower.
Lin rang her first quarter. Sarah & Mel rang their first quarter peals covering, Karen rang her first quarter trebling to minor and another of plain bob doubles inside, Adam rang Kent for his 25th quarter peal, Moira rang her 250th quarter peal. Lisa achieved her ART level 5 LTR (including quarter peals of covering to doubles, trebling to doubles & minor, inside to plain bob doubles, plain bob minor & grandsire doubles).
Packington was the leading tower for quarter peals in 2024 in Leicestershire & joint 24th throughout (42 QPs). Of the current 102 performances on Bellboard, 83 are since the revival of ringing in the village. In early 2024 we committed to attempt to ring all of the named months doubles variations in each month of the year and are proud to say that we achieved this without too much stress. Next year we have even more ambitious plans for further quarter peal & peal attempts (we’re not competitive – honest!).
We’ve also welcomed several dogs to practices this year as Moira started fostering. Having a dog at practices & in quarter peals has become the norm! Zeus sat through 17 quarter peals & Ziggy through a handful too.
Here’s Ziggy’s last practice before he went off to his new home in Anglesey.

We’d really like to thank our band, helpers & supporters, we couldn’t have achieved so much without your hard work & dedication.
Happy New Year & watch this space for 2025!
Moira, Dave & co!
