Harby

The Harby ringers have had a relatively quiet 3 months, practicing weekly, and consolidating on ringing up and down. We have been trialling Kaleidoscope ringing, which has helped with getting better control of the bells.  We have also started to use call changes, as with only having 5 bells, it is something a bit easier we can ring for Sunday Services.  We thank any helpers that come out on a Thursday night, as it means we can have a stronger band around our learners.

We rang on 3 occasions for the Coronation. Firstly for a Coronation procession on the Friday evening where children dressed up as Kings & Queens. This processed from the village hall to the church, followed by a short service which replicated the service to be held at Westminster Abbey the following day.

We had our main ‘Ring for the King’ event on Saturday morning, where 15 Harby ringers and friends came together to ring. We also opened up the opportunity for anyone from the village to have a ring – and 11 people had a go.

On the Monday, we ventured over to Hose, to make sure their bells were rung for the Coronation weekend, which was good for our band to try out different bells, especially as Hose bells are rung infrequently.

Work is progressing behind the scenes with our Bell Restoration project, and our first fundraiser is the beer festival at Harby church on 22nd – 23rd September (See upcoming events for more details).
