Who are we?
The Foundry Foxes is the Leicester DG group for ringers aged up to the age of 18. We meet twice a month at different towers around the Guild and ring anything from plain hunt up to basic surprise major. Generally we meet at churches with ground floor rings so that non ringing parents feel involved.

Who can come along?
In our group, there are a range of abilities, spanning from plain hunt to surprise major, and we try to include everyone who attends. All we ask is that the young ringers attending can handle a bell confidently on their own, on bells they are not used to.
Recent events
In July 2024 we attended the Ringing World National Youth Contest, where approximately 300 young ringers descended on London for an amazing day out. This included outings to several famous towers in the city, like St Mary le Bow and the Royal Jubilee Bells at St James Garlickhythe. There was also a selection of mini rings in the church of St Mary le Bow, along with hand bells and dumb bells to try. We rounded off the day with a results presentation in St Pauls Cathedral and a photo on the steps outside:

We are looking forward to this years’ RWNYC event in Birmingham.
In March 2025 we joined a day in Nottinghamshire which gave the opportunity to ring at several towers including Beeston and Clifton. During the afternoon there was a striking competition with teams from all over the Midlands; we were placed 1st out of the teams that rang on all 8 bells.

Future events
In addition to our regular practices and national/regional events we would like to invite all young ringers in Leicestershire to an open tower at St James the Great, Birstall, on Sunday 29th June, between 2pm and 4pm. If you know of young ringers in your area please advertise this event as we don’t want anyone to miss out. If you do have any questions regarding this or any other even feel free to contact Andrew Preston at foundryfoxes@leicesterdg.org.uk.
