From the Districts

Melton District

The Melton District meetings have been at Asfordby, Gaddesby and Stathern, thanks to all who’ve attended these and many thanks to the visitors from other Districts who’ve attended and helped us out ….. it’s been a long time since Surprise Major has been ring at Gaddesby but happened this time ‘with a little help from our friends’!

It’s been a sad quarter for the Melton District as David Baker (former tower captain and teacher at Twyford) passed away. His funeral was very well attended and we rang a half muffled quarter of doubles before the service, all of the band had rung quarters with David over the years. David will be sadly missed in this area.

We have had some good news from Harby where the faculty for the work on those bells has been granted (that includes rehanging / augmentation / addition of a simulator and dumb bell).  All Jonathan needs for this now is the money – fund raising in progress !

Also some news from one of our sister towers which is just over the border at Tilton on the Hill – they have now raised enough to place the order with Taylor’s for the replacement frame for their bells. We hope to have some dates soon for this work.
