From the Districts

Melton District

Melton meetings are always the 3rd Saturday of the month at 7pm – learners and visitors are welcome to join us, all the details are on the website for these meetings. The last 3 have been at Sproxton, Wymondham and Long Clawson so a good spread around the district, thanks to those who attended.

The main event in the past quarter was the Coronation of King Charles III, there was a lot of ringing in the District to mark this occasion.

The Twyford band rang a quarter of doubles (Grandsire / Bob Doubles / St Simon’s / St Martin’s) on the coronation day and then all of the local ringers from Twyford / Borough / Pickwell / Ashby Folville / Great Dalby banded together to do a tour of all the local towers that we ring at for services (about 10 towers over the weekend).

We have a new band of ringers training at Saltby – an update from them can be found elsewhere in this newsletter.

Finally congratulations to Eric Leeson on his 80th birthday in this quarter – we are planning an attempt at a quarter of Grandsire triples to celebrate the occasion, Eric is buying the beer afterwards!!!

Leicester District

Since 1st April we have had 11 new members join the Leicester District of the Guild.

We had a District practice at Kirby Muxloe in April, Evington in May and at Willoughby Waterlees and Arnesby in June. All were well attended and we enjoyed catching up with the Harborough District ringers at our June practice, where the two towers were at the border of our Districts.

£65.43 has been raised for the BRF fund since April.
