Ringing Course

The Annual Ringing Course is to be held on the weekend of 20th – 22nd of September. By the time of going to press, all applications by students should have already been in. There is still plenty of time to sign up as a helper though, whether you can only manage one session or the whole weekend. Please contact Gail Harrison gaillesleyharrison@gmail.com

Wymeswold Ringing Festival

St Mary’s Wymeswold will be hosting a Ringing Festival on Saturday 7th of September from 10am-1pm. The event was set up with the dual aims of recruiting some new learners and raising funds for bell repairs. We are having the bearings replaced on all six bells at the end of June, at a cost of approximately £5000. So far we have raised about half of that sum, and are very grateful for the grant of £500 from the Guild. We also want this to be a celebration of ringing in general, and an opportunity for people from the village and beyond to come and visit our beautiful church.

On the day we will have a mini ring set up downstairs in the church, along with the Guild’s training bell. There will be tours of the ringing chamber (upstairs), a pop-up café with plenty of delicious cake, and craft activities for younger children.

We would be delighted if ringers from other towers in the Guild would come along to support this event. Assistance with the mini ring and would be particularly welcome. There may be opportunities for bands to ring quarter-peals on the mini ring in the afternoon in return for a donation to our fundraising appeal. If this is of interest, please do get in touch as early as possible to reserve a slot.

For further information please contact Emma Andrews, Ringing Festival Co-ordinator, by email to ejandrews@btinternet.com.
