In the Wider Ringing Community

Over the past few months several items have been shared on social media with a link to bellringing. A few videos, some new, and some a little older; and news articles.

The Central Council has commissioned a cople of videos to promote bellringing:

Another YouTube video, this one designed to demonstrate what is going on with the bells whilst we are ringing, particularly useful for learners:

And a video by the editor of this newsletter showing a little of what putting muffles on for remembrance entails.

Over on the Taylor’s Bellfoundry YouTube Channel they have produced another ‘Behind the Foundry Doors’ video:

On the BBC we find a news article about a man who took up rope making being commissioned to make ropes for the West End musical Sister Act: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0k2xqgwjq5o.amp

A slightly older video on YouTube resurfaced, a folk band singing about a band of bellringers:

We are also shown the delights of Bournville Carillon being played on Christmas Eve. Interesting to see the Carillonneurs at work:

And to bookend the first videos in this list, a film from 1963 interviewing the bellringers at the newly refurbished tower of Ermington, Devon. The film interviews the ‘every-man’ ringers, and shows their day jobs, as well as how they got in to ringing.
