The W W Worthington Contest is a 10 bell striking contest that has a long history in this area. Originally held in Burton-upon-Trent and organised by the Midland Counties Association, with a trophy donated by Worthington family of the brewery fame, it has been under the stewardship of the Derby DA in recently year. There are some past results on the DDA website:

A silver trophy, a shallow bowl with two ornate curled handles. It is engraved with the following:
Burton Upon Trent Open Ten Bell Contest
W W Worthington Memorial Trophy
To be awarded annually
To the best church ten bell ringing team
Donated by the Worthington Family (Late brewers in this town)
On the base of the trophy is inscribed dates and the name of the band which won that year.

It has taken a pause recently due to the start of the Robert B Smith 12 bell contest, but I’m keen to keep it in the calendar as I feel it is more accessible to our towers in the Midlands and a good stepping stone to 12 bell ringing.
